2015/16 UEFA Champions League participants

A total of 22 teams automatically enter the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage with the remaining slots taken by the ten sides who come through qualifying.

The 2015/16 UEFA Champions League began with the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on 22 June 2015 and ends with the final at San Siro in Milan on Saturday 28 May 2016.

A country's representation in the UEFA Champions League is determined by its UEFA coefficient ranking at the start of the previous season, which is calculated over a five-year basis. Twenty-two teams automatically enter this season's competition in the group stage (including Sevilla FC as UEFA Europa League winners), with a further 56 teams taking part in qualifying.

*Following a significant change in the regulations, Pot 1 for the group stage draw – in Monaco on 28 August – will now be formed by the champions of the top seven associations: Spain, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, France and Russia as well as the UEFA Champions League holders. However, as both finalists this time round – Barcelona and Juventus – have already won their domestic titles, that slot goes to PSV, winners of the championship in the Netherlands, who are the eighth-ranked association.
