CHAPTER ONE

1.1     Introduction

The Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme is an exercise carried out within a period of three to six months in the third/fourth year of an undergraduate program. The exercise was established to bridge the gap between academic world and industrial world.

1.2     Brief History of SIWES in Nigeria

SIWES, which means Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme was created to help Nigerian students get practical knowledge and wide horizons based on their future profession while they are still studying at the University.

It was so that students who entered Nigerian institutions to study science and technology didn’t have any practical knowledge before graduation. As a result, getting a job was quite difficult for them due to lack of industrial skills and working experience until 1973.

LAUTECH SET NEW DATE FOR SECOND BATCH OF POST UTME

GENERAL INFORMATION

Notice is hereby given to all candidates who are willing to change to LAUTECH as their Institution of first choice in the 2019/2020 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that a second batch Post-UTME Computer Based Test (CBT) Screening Exercise will be conducted on Friday, September 27 and Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the sales of JAMB registration form for 2019 UTME will commence on January 10th, 2019. The announcement was made by JAMB's Registrar Professor Oloyede during a meeting with owners of JAMB Computer Based Test Centres at the University of Lagos.

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti was established in accordance with Decree 33 of 1979 based on the Federal Polytechnics Act (Cap. i39) as amended by the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Decree No.5. of 1993.
