TECNO OWN THE STAGE: Meet the contestants

 

Africa’s first televised karaoke competition, TECNO Own The Stage, is hosted by Uti Nwachukwu, and renowned model and television personality, Vimbai Mutinhiri, as his co-host. The Show has hit Episode 7 this week, Bien, Yermi Alade and M. I. are the Judges of the Show.

Zuhura-Othman

Tanzania

Zooccu is a confident singer, and she loves to dance. She refers to herself as the ‘full package’.

Her biggest influence is her mom and she intends to start her musical career if she wins the grand prize.
Her biggest wish is to be nominated for a Grammy someday.

Nande-Charles-Mfinanga

Tanzania

Nande Charles Mfinanga is the daughter of a Dj and she lives in Dar Es Salam. She has been in music for 5 years and her biggest musical influence is Rihanna.
She will support her family if she wins the money.
She also hopes to support other upcoming artistes and be an international artiste herself.

Onyinde-Oluwatosin

Nigeria

Onyinde Oluwatosin is currently a member of a high life band.
She started singing as a child in the church and her biggest musical influence is Whitney Houston.
She intends to be very charitable with the prize money and wants to be a legend.

Shaapera is a 29 year old teacher from Benue State.
She is a singer and a rapper. She also plays the drum set and conga in her church choir.
Shaapera is largely influenced by Lauryn Hill. She intends to use the money to boost her musical career and to help her family.

Pascal (Pascalino Lpesino Lenguro) is an actor and he lives in Nairobi. His biggest musical influence is John legend.
Starting from the age of 6 he would often sing for his mum. Pascal is not in the competition for the money but, he would like to open a studio if he wins the money and he hopes to one day sing on a world stage.

Mary Mugure Mucheru is 22 years old and lives in Nairobi.
All she wants to do is entertain the world and inspire people with her voice.
She currently works as a receptionist and sings in a band occasionally. Her biggest influence is Beyonce and she hopes to build a house for her parents if she wins the money.

Elizabeth-Akinyi-Rege

Kenya

Elizabeth AKA “Sikin” lives in Nairobi. She got her nick name in primary school and its short for sick individual.
She claims her love of music started in the womb from listening and kicking to her mum playing music. She is currently a student of performing arts and used to play the flute in the national youth orchestra.
She intends to develop herself with the money and buy musical instruments.

Saidi-Ramadhan-Matano

Rama254 (Ramadhan Matano) is a student who started singing and playing the piano at the age of 8.
His love of music stems from his parents listening to a lot of blues and RnB. His biggest musical influence is Craig David and he intends to use the money to develop himself and give upcoming artistes a helping hand.
He recently started learning to play the guitar and hopes to win a VMA or BET in the nearest future.

She is a business woman who believes God’s plan is to make her the winner of the competition.
Her greatest influence is Beyonce and she intends to invest her winnings in her music.

Tanzania

Mgisha Elizeus Banyanza is a Tanzanian Banker with an MBA. His biggest influence is Tyrese.
He hopes to create an album if he wins the prize money. He is very driven and loves being successful in everything.

Gazby-Kunle-Bells

Nigeria

Gazby is a full time artiste, singer, dancer, choreographer and songwriter from Edo State.
His mask is his magic, his biggest musical influence is Michael Jackson and he hopes to open a studio if he wins the prize money. He wants to win a Grammy in the future.

Nigeria

Karly (Chime Carl Azoeumu) is a singer from Kwale, Delta State.
His biggest musical influence is 2 Face Idibia. He is looking to become the biggest star out of Nigeria.

Nigeria

Vicky is a student from Benin City. She is influenced by Beyonce and promises to pay her tithe if she wins the prize.
She also intends to help her siblings with the money and shoot a music video. Her mum is her biggest supporter.
