British-Nigerian John Boyega gets two nominations in MTV Movie Awards

The nominations list for the 2016 edition of MTV Movie Awards has been released by organisers with British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega getting two nods.




The ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ actor has gotten his first nominations at the awards as he is in contention in the Best Action Performance and Breakthrough Performance categories for his role as Finn in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

For the Breakthrough Performance Award, John will be facing stiff competition from ‘Straight Outta Compton’ star, O’Shea Jackson Jr, as well as Dabota Lawson of ‘50 Shades of Grey’.

Other nominees for the Breakthrough Performance award are Briel Larson (Room),Amy Shumer (Trainwreck) and Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens).

Only 3 weeks ago, John Boyega defeated Briel Larson and Dabota Johnson to win the EE Rising Star Award at the 2016 edition of the BAFTAs.

The talented actor will also be going into a battle with Dwanye ‘The Rock’ Johnson (San Andreas), who will be hosting the awards, Chris Pratt (Jurassic World), Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -Part 2),Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and VinDiesel  (Furious 7) in the Best Action Performance category.
