Man of the Moment- Oresegun Olumide

Shouldn’t we tag 2016 a year of discoveries? It all started with Orisaguna Olajumoke, the famous bread seller who photo bombed TY Bello’s photos earlier this year.
The incident transformed Jumoke's fate completely. The Bread seller turned model is currently making a headway in her career.
However, the most recent and trending story of discovery is that of Oresegun olumide, a very incredible artist, whose art works have clouded the internet over the past few days.

His oil on canvas paintings, which he has been creating for years, have finally brought the artist to the lime light. Oresegun set Facebook ablaze after he uploaded his most recent work on Saturday.

Oresegun’s paintings go beyond paint and pencils. They are so realistic that his work could be deemed one of the best paintings ever created by an African, or, even compete with the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci. A painting which, according to Wikipedia has been acclaimed as, “the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world.” Some Nigerians still can’t believe that this painting was done by hand.

Oresegun is a 2006 graduate of the Yaba College of Technology. He graduated from the department of Fine Arts with a Distinction in painting. An amazing thing about his work is that he loves to paint water around or on his characters.

This is indeed a rare debut for the young artist as he has taken African creativity to another level. Oresegun’s artwork could one day feature in the history of world records for art.
Here are some fantastic pieces by Oresegun:
